Brian Windhorst delivers disappointing news for Los Angeles Lakers fans regarding coaching search
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Darvin Ham era in Tinseltown is over after the Los Angeles Lakers handed Darvin Ham his pink slip. That means the Lakers need to find someone to replace him. Some names have already been floated up in rumors, including Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd and Los Angeles Clippers sideline boss Tyronn Lue. However, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst doesn’t believe that either guy will be the next man to call the shots for the Lakers.

“If you’re a Lakers fan and you’re dreaming of somebody else as coach, it ain’t gonna be Ty Lue. It ain’t gonna be Jason Kidd,” Windhorst said in a recent Get Up on ESPN episode.

Of course, Jason Kidd is no longer part of any equation connecting him to the Lakers because he just signed a new deal with the Mavericks. That’s one fewer potential candidate for the Lakers, as they continue their search for a new man to handle the job from the sidelines.

Lue, of course, is a familiar face for Lakers fans. Not only because he’s always in LA with the Clippers, but also since he used to wear Purple & Gold colors during his playing days in the NBA. There is also the fact that he used to be LeBron James’ head coach back when the four-time league MVP was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Who Will be the Next Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach?

Whenever job opens up in LA, expect it to be a point of interest for many. Apart from Kidd and Lue, other figures who are being linked to the Lakers’ head coaching vacancy are the likes of Mike Budenholzer, JJ Redick, and Terry Stotts. Also in the conversation are Kenny Atkinson and Sam Cassell.
